Update from the 'G' Household! We moved yet again, this time into a much larger rental home. The girls are ages 10 and 11 years old now...I can hardly believe it! Hubby is still in school trying to finish up his Paramedic certification, and I'm a SAHM!! Yay! My laptop crashed just before we moved in June 2012, so I'll have to dig up some photos to update my blog with.
The Hubs and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary on 6/26 and had a lovely day/night together. He took me to the Olive Garden (cashed in gift cards) and we had a great dinner & dessert. We are really into the show 'Bones' right now, so after dinner and dessert, we decided to come home and catch up on a few episodes together. It was a great 2nd anniversary, and for our gift to each other, we bought a new leather sectional couch with recliners to put in the new house we're in. It's awesome! We have lots of projects going right now and are enjoying this new adventure together. New things we've tried:
*Gardening. Right now we have Basil, Rosemary, Beans, Squash, Cantaloupe, Parsley, and Oregano growing. OH and a tomato plant that isn't doing anything right now. We've got about 10 Hibiscus plants (various types), and a several other flowering plants & we're having alot of fun with that. The home we moved into has several fruit trees and we were able to benefit from the peaches, apples, pears, plums and some grapes on their vines. Yummy! Can't wait until next spring...maybe we can do some canning.
*Building furniture. Hubby built an amazing table for the house so that we can put our flat screen on it and still have room for cable boxes, dvd player, Wii, etc. He built it and I stained it (he helped some too.) It looks amazing!!! I've ordered 2 more tables, 1 for my kitchen and 1 for the upstairs at the foot of our bed.
*Serious crafting. The kids and I made some River Rock mats for the front porch (found on Pinterest), and I've been working on LOTS of crochet projects to sell for a part time job. I've teamed up with a photographer and she takes photos of my work on cute little kiddos, and in exchange I keep sending her new things to use in photos on her clients. It's win-win! The kids are really into Duck tape craft projects right now and they are loving it. Ally even made a super cute barbie dress out of zebra and teal duck tape. I love that they are so creative.
*Making your own detergents, cleaning projects, refurbishing old things, going GREEN, etc. Right now I have orange peels soaking in distilled vinegar to make some natural cleaning products for the house. Excited!
*Bread making. I'm a good cook, and a good baker, but I've never been successful when it comes to baking breads or using yeast for anything! I've been successful lately and couldn't be happier. Hubby loves it, so do the kids, AND I get to use my shiny, RED Kitchenaid more often now. I found this great breadstick recipe on Pinterest and the kids request it for ever meal now. So far I've made it 3x's and usually to go with Sunday dinners. I can't wait to try new types of breads and rolls and maybe I'll be really good at it someday.
*Piano. The girls just started taking piano lessons from a lady in our ward (church) and I'm so thrilled for them.
*What I'd like to Learn/ Try: I'd LOVE to learn how to Knit. I taught myself how to crochet, so I'm sure I can teach myself how to knit one day. Just takes alot of practice. I'd also like to teach myself how to use Photoshop and do some photo editing, and then teach myself how to play guitar. I know how to play piano, so hopefully learning guitar won't be too much of a challenge. Here's to new goals!
Lots of new things we're trying and we're soooooo excited about life right now.
Now if only we could finally have a baby! We've been working on that for 2 years, so hopefully our time will come sooner than later. That would be a fun new twist in our plans and it would be so much fun.
