Today was a great day! Because Bailey turned 8 years old 2 days after having her tonsils out, we had to postpone any party plans until she was completely healed. Allyson turned 7 on the 18th of March, so we decided to have their combined birthday parties today at this neat little local place I saw advertised on the news. The place is called Inflatable Wonderland, and they have about 20-25 different inflatable things to jump in and play on. There is a food court, WiFi for those parents who want to work while their kids play, massage chairs, and a movie theater room for kids to rest after playing so hard. We had a decent turn out and lots of fun. Oh, and the theme for this year's party....MAMA MIA. My girls are obsessed with that movie and all the songs. They are a sucker for a great musical just like ME. So, here are a few pictures from our wonderful day. Many thanks to Ashley, Mom and Dad for helping me to design the girls fabulous birthday cake!! And thanks to my sweetheart of a fella...Rowland. He was our movie man and also helped out all of the many times I asked him to. Gotta love him.
Introducing.....Sophie (From the movie, 'Mama Mia'...)

And Sophie with her Mom, Donna (again going with the movie theme..)

The cake that took me several hours to decorate.

This was a white coconut cake with homemade butter cream icing that we dyed blue for the ocean water. I also added coconut extract to help match it to the cake mix I used. We used crushed graham crackers for the sand, fruit by the foot for the towels. Then we stuck some flowers from the Lei's we were handing out, along the sides of the cake and some on top. The little doo-dads you see on the top corners are little picture holders. The bases have fake water, with little sailboats inside them. Dad wanted to add those so that we could add the kids pictures to the cake. It's hard to read but it says, Mama Mia on top, then at the bottom says, Bailey & Ally, all in pink frosting. (I'm short so taking an above picture was kind of hard. haha.

This is a shot of the cake from the beach standpoint so that you can see the beach towels and umbrellas. You can see the sea foam from the ocean water, etc. (Brett's idea for this picture...brilliant!)

Happy birthday girls!
What a cute and fun party that was!
Hailey had so much fun!!!
How fun is that! "Sophie" and "Donna" I don't think you'd be able to find closer look-a-likes!
Love the MaMa Mia theme. It's totally cool. You look so pretty Julie!
I just had to comment because I'm planning a Mamma Mia! themed birthday party for my daughter in December (she turns 7). It's absolutely her FAVORITE movie and musical. She's going to be Donna for Halloween (I'm attempting to make her glam themed costume; wish me luck!!). I searched the internet and found this blog...what a great job you did! I am looking for ideas, so this is helpful. Thanks!
I'm seeing this comment a little bit late, but you are welcome!! I can't tell you how many hits on my blog I get from this 'Mama Mia Birthday Party' post. I hope it helps someone b/c when I searched, there was nothing online to go by.
